Can your students use some additional food to help with their growing hunger throughout the year? Then signup HERE for our “Feeding the Future Program” (formally known as Backpack Program). Below are some additional facts as to how and why Feeding the Future offers additional supports to students and their families.

  • “Our goal is to make sure that these children return to school on Mondays, well-nourished and ready to learn.”
  • The program provides support for more than 1,000 students from Kindergarten to college.
  • Program utilizes about 150 volunteers each week who help sort, pack and distribute the weekend food snacks that children take home with them every Friday during the school year.
  • The weekend food sacks contain food items that even a kindergarten can carry home and prepare themselves such as peanut butter and jelly tubes, shelf-stable milk, cereal, mac n’ cheese, trail mix, breakfast bars, snacks and fresh produce
  • Nearly 1 in 7 Colorado kids (14%) may not always know when or where they will get their next meal.
  • According to studies, the effects of chronic hunger may last a lifetime. Hungry kids often fail to reach their academic, athletic and social potential due to poor health.
  • Kids who eat well miss less school, get better grades and are more likely to graduate!
